I know how to install a graphics card, but seeing some pictures of low profile graphics cards seems like they wouldn’t fit in smaller pc cases (hp slimline) because it has the portrusion with the extra video port on the top. How exactly does that fit in narrow case pcs?

You may need to get a graphics card that explicitly touts compatibility with narrow cases and comes with a special low-profile back plate since, as you’ve observed, the second video port would make fitting it into the case quite impossible.

Most cards advertised as “low-profile ready” come with a shorter bracket which only has one video port. Either the full or half-height bracket may be installed by default. You can switch brackets in under 2 minutes with just a screwdriver.
