I signed up for wordpress but with only a user name now I want a blog. What do i do?

This is what wordpress.com support has to say:
“You might have signed up for a username without a blog in order to post comments or contribute articles to someone else’s blog. If you already have a username and would like to create a blog, just log in and then visit the Sign Up page.”
Which seems counterintuitive, but it does work.
